New Years Day Team Building

Team Building  is something we do at the Pratt Nature Center everyday. We do it with our kids. We do it with our staff and we even perform Teambuilding workshops for other organizations and corporations.   So what do you do with a group of Team builders to build their teamwork? Our Camp Staff  already hike together, backpack together, and eat Tasty Waves together.   They play silly games, talk late by the campfire,  work in the garden and problem solve together.   They have built bridges and dams together. We have seen each other at our worst and at our best.  We are in a unique situation…..We live team building.

Our Board Members decided to chip in and  reward our camp staff with a night of “On Track Karting.”   So tonight we chose  our race names which included “Drewbear”, The Slug, SCAT, Bubblegum and “Zea Mays” ( the latin word for corn), donned our best racing suits, took the safety course,  chose our helmets and neck braces, signed the death waiver and went Go Karting.       I will leave it to the camp staff to share/boast about their race times. I found  interesting to see who found their need for speed, who took it slow and steady, who rammed their Kart into the track on the first turn and how many of us wanted to go back for another race.   Thank You to the Pratt Nature Center Board Members We had a great experience together!

Why Team Building is Important.

“The main goals of team-building are to improve productivity and motivation. Taking employees out of the office helps groups break down political and personal barriers, eliminate distractions, and have fun. The benefits of team-building programs are so significant that many corporations have incorporated teambuilding strategies into their standard training curriculum.

Some of these benefits include:

  • Improves morale and leadership skills
  • Finds the barriers that thwart creativity
  • Clearly defines objectives and goals
  • Improves processes and procedures
  • Improves organisational productivity
  • Identifies a team’s strengths and weaknesses
  • Improves the ability to problem solve”
