Hi all, I’ve been visiting the gardens, but I would like to come when you are there — perhaps once a week at a scheduled time and, of course, any other time you’d like some help. To start things off, I’ll be there this coming Monday 6:30 – 7:30. Feel free to suggest other days and times.
After planting, the next thing to focus on is cultivating the soil around the plants. This will keep the weeds down, as well as allow rain to soak in. I use a short handled three pronged tool. I’ll bring it on Monday.
Alas, I noticed some broccoli/cabbage plants nipped off. I walked the fence line, and along the back some critter had tunneled under, perhaps a young woodchuck or rabbit. I stuffed a rock in the hole. Whoever it was didn’t seem interested in any other plants at this time.
I’m hopeful our gardens will start to take off now that the rains have stopped. My own garden is just beginning to grow, too.
