First Day of School 2012

Back to School

The house is quiet. No giggling. No Squealing. No Dirt. No Mud. No Laughter. It’s the first day of school and although I know that enrichment and school programs start up again next week, I miss Summer Camp! To think that overnight our muddy, shirtless, shoeless, carefree kids went from long days in the woods climbing trees, catching frogs, planting, exploring, questioning Nature to sitting at a desk. We had a wonderful summer together! I am already looking forward to next Year!

But for now….

Enjoy eating your lunch without the chickens. Go outside a little everyday. Ask your grown up if you can do your homework in the grass. Figure things out. Read a good book under your favorite tree. Ask lots of questions. When you are learning about the water cycle remember our days in the river and the morning dew on our barefeet. Learning about Rocks and Geology? Think back to the days we ate lunch at the “Indian caves.” Think about the Garden and the Dam, the Plants, the Animals. Most everything you will learn will connect back to nature in some way.

Don’t forget the Pratt Center rules and use them everywhere you go!
1. If you fall down, get back up.
2. If your shoe falls off put it back on.
3. Respect yourself, respect others, respect nature.
Remember to Visit us during school holidays and events!

Oh…. and when your teacher wonders why your shoes are off again …. Feel free to blame me.
