December & January School Vacation Camp Days

For ages 4-14 

For specific dates, cost and online registration information, please click this link for School Vacation Camp.

It can be a challenge to manage those days off during the week on the school calendar so let us help! Pratt follows the New Milford Public Schools and Washington Montessori calendar but any child from anywhere is welcome. When kids are off during the week, we welcome them for a day of camp. Open to kids age 4-14, they’ll spend the day exploring the property with friends in activities that change with every season. It is the perfect way for kids to spend the day when school is closed!

Homeschool Winter Session – Registration is open!

Elementary School (Age 6-10): Wednesdays beginning January 8th

Middle School (Age 11-13) : Thursdays beginning January 9th

Our Winter Homeschool Session begins in January with flexible scheduling and pricing options. Come learn with us in the most natural of classrooms. The winter brings opportunities to explore the property in a different season, help raise trout, enjoy the snow and ice, make maple syrup and so much more!

After School Explore – Registration is open!

For ages 6-14 (Kindergarten through 8th Grade) 

Meets Monday, Tuesday and/or Wednesday from 4:00* – 5:30 pm during the school year on school days, following the New Milford School calendar. *Bus arrival times vary but Pratt staff meet each bus when it arrives. Parent drop off is at 4:00, if not arriving by bus.

Our After School Explore program is the perfect way for kids to let go of their school day  – playing outside with friends! Sign up for one, two or all three days of after school adventure. Nature Babies – Registration is open!

Prenatal/Birth – 3 years old with their caregiver

Every Wednesday (Begins Wednesday, September 4th) from 9:30-10:30

$10 per family per session

Pratt’s version of the “Mommy and Me” class puts you and your little one outside and exploring nature from the beginning. Perfect for expecting or new moms, dads, grandparents – any grownup that has a young child in their life. Once a week, for an hour, we’ll take a leisurely stroll where ever our curiosity takes us. January Moonlight Hike

Friday, January 10th  7:30-8:30 pm

Come stroll the lower fields with us for an evening hike. Weather permitting, we’ll have a campfire and roast marshmallows!

No registration required, all ages welcome!

January Community Potluck Dinner

Friday, January 10th  6:30-7:30 pm

We enjoyed our Friendsgiving so much that we decided we want to celebrate that great community spirit every month! Join us in our greenhouse for a casual potluck dinner. Bring a favorite finger food or dish to share. Enjoy the company of friends over a good meal and then feel free to stick around for our Moonlight Hike, starting at 7:30 pm. Hope to see you there!

Fire Building 

Grades 6-12: Monday, January 13th 2:30 pm – 4:00 pm

Grades 3-5: Tuesday, January 14th  4:00 pm – 5:30 pm

Whether it’s for fun or survival, being able to make a fire is a great life skill to have! Join us to learn how. Participants will learn different methods for building a fire, what materials to collect and how to use traditional methods to spark a flame. Each participant will work to make their own fire in a supervised but completely hands on experience. We’ll finish with roasting marshmallows over the open fire!

$15 per child, online pre registration is required.

Weaving & Rope Making

Grades K-2: Tuesday, January 21st 3:30 pm – 5:00 pm

Grades 3-5: Wednesday, January 22nd 4:00 pm – 5:30 pm

Grades 6-12: Monday, January 27th 2:30 pm-4:00 pm

Your own rope, bracelet or belt is just a few twists and turns away! Discover the ancient skill of basic weaving and rope making in a hands on workshop where everyone takes home whatever they create. Participants will learn how to use simple household materials to craft their own projects and have the know how to keep practicing afterward.

$15 per child, online pre registration is required.

The Nose Knows

Grades K-2: Tuesday, January 28th 3:30-5:00

What’s that smell? We’ll find out! Join us as we put our own noses to the test and explore how the sense of smell works in all sorts of creatures. Learn about the science behind smell and all the different ways it is used in the natural world.

Happy Hour Book Club – January

For adults

Wednesday, January 29th  6:00-7:00 pm

This isn’t your average book club. Join us on the last Wednesday of the month from 6:00-7:00 pm for a lively discussion  around each month’s book that shines a light on all the different ways we connect to the natural world. From hiking to wellness to farming and physics (with lots more in between), there’s going to be something for everyone. It’s  BYOBeverage and we’ll provide the snacks.

Superb Owl Sunday II

For all ages

Sunday, February 2nd  10:00-12:00 pm

It’s back!  Save the hot wings for later – come feast your eyes on the amazing owl before the game.  Join us in celebrating these fine feathered friends with a live owl presentation, owl pellet dissection, owl themed snacks and more!
