Homeschool Spring Session

Thursdays, March 7th – May 9th (10 sessions)

For children age 6-16

Our Spring Homeschool Session begins in March with flexible scheduling and pricing options! Come learn with us in the most natural of classrooms.

For each Thursday, choose between a Morning, Afternoon or Full Day option. Morning (9:30-12:00) or Afternoon (12:30-3:00) are $20 per child. Stay for our Full Day for $40 per child.

School Vacation Day Camp – April & May Dates

For children age 4-14. Any public, private and homeschool children are welcome, regardless of which school calendar the day off falls on.

It can be a challenge to manage those days off during the week on the school calendar so let us help! Pratt follows the New Milford Public Schools and Washington Montessori calendar but any child from anywhere is welcome. When kids are off during the week, we welcome them for a day of camp. Open to kids age 4-14, they’ll spend the day exploring the property with friends in activities that change with every season. It is the perfect way for kids to spend the day when school is closed!

Papermaking!

Grades K-2: Monday, May 6th 3:30 – 5:00

Grades 3-5: Monday, May 13th 4:00 – 5:30

Experiment with making new paper by recycling old paper! Kids will learn a practical and useful way they can help save the world by creating recycled paper in different colors, shapes and sizes. Everybody gets to take home what they make and the knowledge to make more on their own at home.

Sprouts Green Gifts for Mother’s Day

For kids age 4, 5 or 6 

Wednesday, May 8th 3:30-4:30

Kids can show mom, grandma, aunt or anyone else that plays a special role in their life just how much they appreciate them with a thoughtful green gift this Mother’s Day! Personalize pots with special messages while planting herbs or flowers that can keep growing well past Mother’s Day.

Archery Afternoon Series

Four Thursdays: May 16th, May 23rd, May 30th and June 6th

On each Thursday:

Grade 6-8 from 2:30 – 3:30 pm

Grade K-2 from 3:30 – 4:30 pm

Grade 3-5  from 4:30 – 5:30 pm

Calling all archery fans! Join Pratt’s certified archery instructors for not just one afternoon but a 4 week series of archery instruction! Great for beginners and those with experience. Kids will be coached through proper technique and get plenty of opportunity to hit that bullseye.

$50 for all four sessions (payable at first session) or $15 per individual session.

Busing from Sarah Noble Intermediate School, Northville Elementary and Schaghticoke MIddle School is available. Parent drop-offs should arrive at the beginning of their session.

Friday, May 17th 8:00 pm 

Join us for a stroll through lower fields on our moonlight hike. Weather permitting, we’ll finish with a campfire and roast marshmallows!

No registration required, all ages welcome!

Knots So Fast

For Grades 6-8

Monday, May 20th from 2:30-4:00 pm

Sometimes the right knot is all you need to get out of a jam, especially if you’re adventuring outside! Learn some of the most common knots and practice in different survival situations. A lifelong skill that everyone should have!

Sprouts Papermaking!

For ages 4, 5 and 6

Wednesday, May 22nd from 3:30 – 4:30

It’s never too early to learn how easy and important recycling can be! Our Sprouts Paper Making is the perfect opportunity for our youngest Pratt kids to create new paper in different sizes, shapes and colors. Kids take home what they make and leave empowered to help save the world on their own!

Bee A Keeper

Grades 6-8: Wednesday, May 29th from 2:30-4:00

Grades 3-5: Monday, June 3rd from 4:00 – 5:30

Grades K-2: Wednesday, June 5th from 3:30 – 5:00

Beekeeping for kids! We’ll use Pratt’s own hives to introduce kids to the world of honeybees- how they live, work and the important role they play in our world. Kids will have hands on practice with beekeeping tools and learn what to look for when observing a hive.

$15 per child, online pre registration is required. Space is limited.

Pratt’s Happy Hour Book Club 

Wednesday, May 29th  6:00-7:00 pm

May’s Title: Farmacology by Daphne Miller, M.D.

Great books, ideas, conversations and snacks! What could be better? Our Happy Hour Book Club is an opportunity for you to learn more about the many ways we connect to the natural world in a fun atmosphere.  Each month we select a new title that could cover anything from hiking to farming to plants, physics and so much more.  It’s BYOB but we’ll provide the snacks. Treat yourself to a great evening!

Connecticut Trails Day!

Sunday, June 2nd

Hike Mt. Tom 10:00 am – 12:00 pm

Nature Walk 10:00 am – 11:00 am

Hike or stroll, you choose! Pratt staff will lead a hike up our White Trail to the 1,049′ summit of Mt. Tom (New Milford) or choose to stroll along the East Aspetuck River with staff for a nature walk. Dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes. 

*The mountain hike is very manageable for all ages but is steep in some sections. At a regular pace, it takes about two hours and covers about 3 miles.

No registration necessary, all ages welcome. Rain or shine event unless dangerous weather, like thunderstorms. Check Pratt’s Facebook page on the day of for any updates.  Email justin@prattcenter.org with any questions.

Worst Case Solutions

For Grades 6-8

Monday, June 10th from 2:30 – 4:00 pm

Inspired by the popular board game of a similar name, Pratt’s spin has kids learning the solutions to some common and uncommon survival problems in a cooperative game. Travel from spot to spot on the trail and help your teammates through challenges that stay with you from task to task. Will your group overcome? Learn what to do in survival situations and have fun doing it!

$15 per child, online pre registration is required. Space is limited.

Fort Night Friday

For Grades 4-8

Friday, June 14th from 6:00 – 8:00 pm

No, not that Fortnite! Get ready for an evening of actual fort building and outside gaming with this drop off program!  Unplug and enjoy an evening of friendly competition. Kids will work together to build a fort and use it to protect a flag or a base during classic field games that our Pratt staff will organize. Weather permitting, we’ll finish up with marshmallows around the campfire!

$10 per child, online pre registration is required. Space is limited.

A Taste of Summer Camp

For kids age 4 -14

Friday, June 21st from 9:30 – 3:00

Looking try out a great camp option for this summer? Need something for the kids to do on that first day of summer vacation? Kids can join us on Friday, June 21st for a one-day, full camp experience of Pratt’s Summer Day Camp. Kids will experience a complete day at camp, including our s’mores celebration at the end of the day. Come run through the trails, splash in the river and adventure on the mountain with us!
